Community To Celebrate East Las Vegas Public Arts Projects

New Murals And Public Art Now In Ward 3


Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz is inviting the community to celebrate new murals and public art recently installed in East Las Vegas at a reception Monday, Jan. 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

“It is very exciting to see new public art coming into the community for all to enjoy,” Councilwoman Diaz said. “These beautiful murals and art installations really highlight the creativity and talent of local and international artists whose work we’re fortunate to showcase in our city. I look forward to seeing even more art throughout the city and Ward 3 in the future.”

Ward 3 public art projects that will be recognized include:

  • The new mural inside the East Las Vegas Community center by Bonnie Kelso and featuring the artwork of local students;

  • The new mural inside the East Las Vegas Community Center by Geovany Uranda;

  • New original artwork for the East Las Vegas Community Center by Michael Dodson, Cindy Jackson, Bonnie Kelso and Jamie Zepeda;

  • The Nephele sculptures by Cyd Bown, relocated to the East Las Vegas Community Center;

  • The new Washington Avenue murals by Don Michael Jr., Lee Lanier, Miguel Hernandez and Robin Slonina; and

  • The new artwork for the East Las Vegas banner project featuring the work of Sameer Asnani, Diane Bush, Janet Castillo-Preciado, Sapira Cheuk, Isabela Jimenez, X. Darvi, Mila May, Ted Terbolizard, Dray and Valentin Yordanov.
